Embedded Software

Help shape the future of single use endoscopy at Ambu

Are you excited about driving embedded software development in a growing MedTech company? Do you enjoy working in supportive, cross functional teams to create digital solutions that truly improve patient care? If so, you might be the person we’re looking for.

At Ambu, we’re dedicated to transforming healthcare. As a Software Product Owner, you’ll play an important role in our global R&D organization , helping ensure our embedded software creates real value for clinicians and patients around the world. You won’t be doing this alone: collaboration, openness, and team support are at the core of how we work.

A local role with global impact

You will join our newly established Embedded Software Team in Augsburg, Germany, and collaborate closely with our team in Ballerup, Denmark. Together, the two teams consist of nine embedded developers and two software test engineers.

We develop a modular embedded platform using Yocto/Linux, C, and C++, and you will work side by side with colleagues from Application Software, Hardware, Systems Engineering, and Marketing. Working as one connected unit is important to us, we help each other succeed, and we believe a supportive environment brings out the best in everyone.

Our culture is grounded in trust, openness, and a willingness to learn. We value a growth mindset over perfection.

Your responsibilities

  • Own, refine, and prioritize the product backlog for the Embedded Software teams
  • Align upcoming features with business and customer needs together with Marketing, System Architecture, RTE, and other Product Owners
  • Translate concepts into clear user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Participate in PI Planning and sprint ceremonies to guide focus and ensure shared understanding in close collaboration with the Scrum Master
  • Understand and discuss the platform level architecture to ensure coherence across embedded software components
  • Work with developers and architects on shaping and executing the platform roadmap
  • Balance new feature development with technical improvements, quality, and maintenance
  • Communicate progress and priorities to stakeholders and ensure transparency
  • Support an agile mindset and help strengthen best practices across teams

Suggested candidate profile

Skills and experience can be gained in several ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role can have relevant experience and competences from diverse areas. You are, however, likely to succeed in this position if you possess:

  • A degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Hands-on experience in embedded software development (e.g., C/C++ on Linux)
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an agile setup
  • Experience collaborating across multiple agile teams (e.g., SAFe or similar frameworks)
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across cultures and disciplines
  • A structured, user-centered approach to prioritization
  • Experience with medical device standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, FDA, SaMD) , or with working in any highly regulated industry,  is a strong plus.

What success looks like

  • You empower the team by giving clarity, purpose, and direction, and they feel supported because of it.
  • You turn complex needs into meaningful, well-shaped features that help bring our products to life.
  • You build strong relationships and bring people together, proactively aligning stakeholders across functions and locations.
  • You enjoy the energy of a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment, where collaboration and curiosity drive everything we do.
  • You lead with empathy and humility, practicing servant leadership and helping the team grow through continuous improvement.

Why Join Ambu?

Ambu is a fast-growing global MedTech company driven by innovation and a strong mission to improve patient care. By joining our team, you’ll experience:

  • A dynamic, international environment with passionate colleagues.
  • A supportive and collaborative team committed to your success.
