Business Area:  People & Culture
Department:  Global People & Culture
Employment Type:  Full-time
Req ID:  10331

Ambu is currently looking for a People & Culture Director to support our global Operations organisation, based in our HQ in Ballerup and a newly established position, Denmark.

With Manufacturing Sites based across 4 different countries (Malaysia, China, Mexico, United States), as well as a global Operations function based out of our Denmark HQ, you will be supporting a function of ca 3600 FTEs consisting of global centres of excellence, local management across sites, and direct labour workforces.

Since this position is newly established, you will have the opportunity to both fill and build the role. We are therefore looking for a highly experienced candidate who enjoys the balance between operational, tactical and strategic P&C responsibilities. You will be a close partner to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), as well as her leadership team. You will be at the center of strategic business decisions and be a member of a highly skilled, energetic, business driven management team. Reporting into the Chief People Officer, you will at the same time be a key member of the Global People & Culture Leadership team and will thus help shape and drive the global People & Culture agenda in Ambu - a growth organization in transformation.

Our people and our culture play an important role in the continued success of the Operations function, and you will act as trusted advisor to senior leaders, supporting and driving discussions and decision making regarding operational excellence, organisational design, talent, employee engagement and much more. You will be expected to advise the senior leadership team on how they can leverage their talent to drive the growth agenda of Ambu across the organisation, providing key insights to support their decision making. Finally, you will functionally be leading the P&C teams across our Manufacturing sites. You will become the leading figure in ensuring ‘best in class People’ and our growth culture.

You will be an integrated part of both the P&C leadership team as well as the Operations leadership team. You will join a team of 4 CoE Leads (Talent, Rewards, HRIS, Organisational Development) and other P&C Business Partners and thus become a leading voice in driving the People & Culture agenda. Further, through your specific role, you should expect to have functional leadership responsibility of P&C Managers based the Manufacturing Sites, setting the direction for the area, ensuring high performance across geographies and enabling scalable workflows through identifying and realizing synergies. This will include both elements related to data, process and efficient and compliant HR operations as well as talent and organizational development. You must thrive and enjoy this combination of highly varied focus areas. As a member of the global P&C Leadership team, it is imperative that you are willing and able to raise your line of sight beyond your function and actively participate in driving the global agenda contributing to, and owning, select global projects.

You can expect to join a highly diverse team which focuses on results through close collaboration. This is a newly created role, and while you will be expected to share your expertise and opinions to support others, you can expect equal support from your colleagues to help shape your success.

Key responsibilities

You will be expected to:

  • Be the P&C Business Partner to the COO and her Leadership team. At the same time, you drive the People Cycle roll-out and management across the function, including leading the talent agenda, and be the link to other functions across regions on a global scale. The ability and interest to balance strategic and operational work is essential to succeed in the role.
  • Own Organisational Development in collaboration with Senior Leadership. As People & Culture Director you lead organisational development discussions, which help us deliver on our ambitions. You function as sparring partner to leadership on the organisational implications of the strategic business decisions.
  • Work closely together with the COO and her immediate team to ensure high employee engagement, strong talent development and general strong performance within the function
  • Work closely together with the People & Culture CoEs to support the development of strategic initiatives and ensure the successful embedding thereof throughout the organisation
  • Maintain and further develop a strong People & Culture team in the function. This includes developing and implementing a bold strategy, as well as efficient ways of working, across geographies with a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • It is expected that you will set the bar high in terms of our use of people analytics in business decisions across functions and geographies. You will develop the local People & Culture teams to provide high quality advice within their countries
  • Actively participate in the Global P&C Leadership Team and become a key contributor to the global People & Culture strategy, driving improvements where required and drive key regional projects within the People & Culture space, as well as select global initiatives

Suggested candidate profile

The right candidate has a senior profile with people management experience and must be culturally curious. While the ideal profile has a strong knowledge of operational matters, they will be able to raise the line of sight when required, prioritising their focus on key wins to the overarching strategic agenda. You need to be comfortable with low data and process maturity and driven by becoming a key contributor to the improvement thereof.

As we operate in a matrix organisation it is absolutely critical to have strong stakeholder management and communication skills with a flair for solving complex HR matters in a pragmatic manner. The People and Culture Director needs to be a strong strategist, however must also be pragmatic and have a full toolbox and understand the craftmanship and thus be willing and able to solve operational issues if required.
