Senior Materials Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • To support Zoom In strategies; COGS reduction, take charge to drive for cost saving initiatives. We have very strong pipelines of projects & opportunity to take the cost out without compromising the quality.
  • Initiating projects caused by material obsoletion projects due to many unforeseen circumstances i.e. global critical material shortages, suppliers change to more ESG friendly materials, supplier relocation, ultra-low demand in the market, geopolitical issue, etc
  • Mitigating the supply risk by identifying potential alternatives (new material, specifications, supplier, process, technology, etc)
  • Support material sourcing process, evaluating samples in preliminaries & building up good potential projects in the pipeline.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, improve efficiency & productivity to meet department goals.
  • Supporting supplier audits to new supplier’s facility to assess their technical capability & competency.
  • Collaborating with Innovation & Quality functions to ensure design change process/QHB is in full compliance.
  • Coaching and mentor to junior materials engineer, if needed
  • Develop, execute & document comprehensive test plans and strategies, and develop & build test cases based on the product requirements and usability.
  • Identify the products, components, and materials that offer the greatest opportunity for cost reduction.
  • Lead or participate in the sourcing, development of product specifications, technical purchasing of materials and implementation of new materials on existing products
  • Re-engineer products according to the R&D Design Change procedures to use less expensive materials, reduced quantities of higher priced materials, substitute lower cost materials where possible and responsible in selecting the best combination of materials to achieve cost competitive purpose and meeting quality and product performance requirements.
  • Document all activities according to Design Control SOP.
  • Work closely with IE and production team to ensure design for manufacturing in all product material change projects.
  • Participate and lead in product material change activities due to supplier change and material obsolete.
  • Review and approve documents and deviations in projects
  • Ensure that the developed products are reproducible with high quality in a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Carry out projects/activities in a way that it meets or exceeds expectations and requirements in the organisation and external regulations.
  • In projects the position holder is responsible for follow-up on and report the use of resources. And also inform and involve relevant stakeholders in the organisation worldwide.

 

Requirements:

  • Technical (engineering) & expert in technical knowledge, ISO13485 knowledge is compulsory.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, capable of delivering high quality work.
  • Enthusiastic about medical devices manufacturing industries.
  • Possess strong analytical & problem-solving skill.
  • Innovative and out of box thinker
  • Independent, dedicated with a high sense of integrity.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work in self-directed and teamwork environment.
  • Willing to go extra miles to achieve department KPIs, result oriented.
