Are you ready to jump on a rocket ship? Ambu has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director of People & Culture (P&C) to join our high performing and customer obsessed team. This is a hybrid role based in our US HQ in Columbia, MD with onsite requirements of 3 days in office/week.
The North American division of Ambu is a key commercial organisation undergoing fast growth. As our Snr P&C Director, you will have full ownership of the People & Culture function for our US and Canadian business. In this highly visible and influential role, you can expect to work closely with US Leadership team and Global P&C colleagues to provide exceptional P&C leadership to our 350 (and growing) employees across the organization. You will become a strategic sparring partner to ensure that w are set up for continued growth and scalability, as well as be a key influencer in global projects.
This role is ideal for a proactive self-starter who has a demonstrated track record of success developing and implementing people and culture strategies, providing impactful counsel to leaders, and ensuring our P&C organization is delivering flawlessly and impactfully in support of our business. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and pragmatic guidance to the P&C function by having accountability for talent attraction, employee relations, career development, succession planning, retention, leadership development, P&C compliance and compensation and benefits
- Oversee talent agenda for a fast-growing business, including counsel on organizational design, job design and workforce planning and forecasting
- Act as trusted advisor for the President and senior leadership team on organizational change and transition plans, company policies and P&C-related legal issues including active participation in leadership meetings

- Establish and implement P&C efforts that effectively communicate and support Ambu’s overall vision, mission and values, and strategic and operational initiatives
- Use and command of human capital data to further talent attraction, retention, and engagement initiatives
- Lead the local P&C team, ensuring high engagement and development within your own function, as well as ensure strong execution on wide range of areas:
- Performance management, talent management, training, workforce planning, learning and development, employee relations, reward strategies and HR legal issues.
- Drive the annual global P&C processes:
- Ensure strong P&C administration of SuccessFactors -including but not limited to talent attraction, onboarding, retention, salary and bonus, administration, performance management processes, etc.
- Actively support and participate in further development of the global P&C initiatives as a member of the Ambu Global P&C leadership team
- Manage P&C compliance requirements and exposure of the company; serve as primary contact for internal and external counsel and outside government agencies
Qualifications, Skills, and Education:
Skills and experience can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you have:
- Proven track record of success in positions that require a strong mix of business skills, leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and sound judgment in driving organizational effectiveness is required
- Strong experience in leading strategic organisational development in a commercial organisation
- Deep experience implementing overall P&C best practices, including directing talent management, and leading all aspects of culture, change management and organizational development, employee engagement, succession planning, and career pathways
- Expertise linking programs and strategies to organizational goals to deliver high-impact results
- Authentic leader and manager with a collaborative and inclusive approach in assessing individual/organizational challenges, problem solving and developing partnerships
- Thoughtful, energetic, and diplomatic change ambassador; an experienced professional in understanding organizational dynamics and guiding individuals and teams through complex and changing environments
- Facilitative style and approachable manager
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in HRIS systems (SuccessFactors preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree preferred
- Experience leading a widely distributed workforce is required
- Experience working in Medical Device or other regulated industries is a plus
- Experience working in an international environment considered strong advantage
This position offers a base salary range of USD 165,000 – 215,000 pa, as well as a variable component and competitive benefits.
