POSITION SUMMARY: The Market Access Manager will be responsible for supporting the integration of market access strategies across Ambu’s endoscopy portfolio. This position will work closely with the HEOR team to support device related reimbursement and market access inquiries and strategies.  Secondarily this person will assist in identifying, evaluating, and summarizing clinical and economic evidence for market access materials including, but not limited to, HTA/VAC & tendering submissions, value dossiers, and evidence creation initiatives. This position will also support partnerships and relationships with strategic partners (and lobbying groups where applicable) to promote single-use support and overall market access Additionally, this position will be responsible for market access initiatives (e.g., coding, coverage, billing, and reimbursement) with both field (sales) and external stakeholder groups.
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing reimbursement and market access initiatives including being the primary point person for inquiries from the field and customers
  • Support the development of the provider/payer value propositions (& value stories) for our products/solutions
  • Collaborate with and support management of the Health Economics team as they lead Ambu’s development of real-world evidence and health economics and outcomes research
  • Answers technical reimbursement questions for internal and external stakeholders, including sales representatives as well as present to key accounts both in person and virtually as needed
  • Manage obtaining additional reimbursement for products through applications such as TPT and NTAP as well as gaining insights on strategy and pathways for commercial reimbursement for the future
  • Create value propositions and messaging based on peer reviewed publications related to the clinical and economic performance of Ambu
  • Assist in presentation development for senior management team and internal and external stakeholders
  • Leads the development and execution of tools that educate the customer on reimbursement and market access areas
  • Support the development of marketing materials that help providers/payers recognize the value of Ambu products
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with CMS, MedPAC and lobbying groups, commercial payers, patient and provider stakeholders, trade associations, and other strategic KOLs.
  • Conduct systematic analyses of the reimbursement potential for our products/solutions in order to inform strategic decision-making in close collaboration with all relevant internal stakeholders
  • Review and edit complex technical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency, as well as support in publication writing and development
  • Assist in mentoring and managing junior members of the HEOR/HEMA team
  • Assist in training of sales team virtually and in person
  • Support Senior Director of HEOR and Marketing across initiatives in HEOR as needed
  • Be able to participate in calls and meeting with global team in Denmark as necessary (Central European Time)
  • Travel as needed (up to 35%)

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in health-related field including, but not limited to, health policy, health services research, biostatistics, or Public Health, with a strong focus on market access and reimbursement preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in market access and reimbursement in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of health insurance coding, coverage, billing, and reimbursement, inclusive of private commercial coverage and Medicare coverage, and health economics
  • Medical device industry experience is strongly preferred (a thorough understanding of how devices are billed and reimbursed is acceptable in lieu of experience)
  • In-depth understanding of payers and their value drivers in major markets as well as trends in pricing & reimbursement
  • Professional coding certification by a national organization (i.e., AAPC or AHIMA) preferred
  • Experience with endoscopy and/or new/disruptive technologies and reimbursement for such
  • Knowledge of various advocacy groups (e.g., Medicare MACS, Hospital GPO’s, Health Systems)
  • Previous coding and billing experience in the office, hospital, ASC, IDN settings is a plus
  • Successful track record of receiving additional reimbursement as well as successful changes to coding and coverage decisions
  • Experience collaborating and working with payers, existing relationships preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing to promote product growth
  • Strong clinical focus, business acumen, and ability to develop and build upon existing relationships
