Job Title: Director of Marketing, Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring

Reports To: Vice President of Marketing

Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid)

 

Position Summary: The Director of Marketing, Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring (“A&PM”) will lead the downstream marketing management activities and team responsible for Ambu’s Anesthesia, Patient Monitoring, and EMS franchises. The candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the US A&PM marketing management team, downstream strategies, and commercial execution required to ensure effective customer-centric marketing deliverables associated with product launches, market adoption/share, revenue growth, and profitability in the business line. This position is well suited for a strategic, creative, commercially-driven marketing leader with team building/developing skills applied alongside brand evangelism and analytical approaches to drive results and goal achievement for the business unit.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead franchise and brand downstream marketing efforts in North America for Ambu’s legacy Anesthesia, Patient Monitoring, and EMS portfolios – including annual strategic marketing plans, awareness/demand programs, and customer-centric brand equity and vitalization efforts   
  • Lead, manage, and develop the downstream A&PM marketing management team for high performance results and maximum impact in the product commercial spaces
  • Responsible for the execution and results of key team-driven marketing management activities; such as, product launches, demand generation, brand equity building, high velocity promotional plans, and competitive landscaping
  • Establish and optimize customer-centric, field-based collaboration between Sales, Corporate Accounts, Education, and Finance to ensure marketing approaches are effective, integrated, and voice of customer-driven  
  • Super-charge brand value in the clinical spaces with deep collaboration with health economics, outcomes research, market access, and marketing communications teams
  • Continuously monitor and report on portfolio and team performance – including financial performance, key objective achievements, competitive landscape, and KPIs - and provide monthly/quarterly business reviews and insights to the Vice President of Marketing and SLT
  • Summarize, qualify, synthesize, and review the marketing management tasks – such as ensuring business intelligence, product positioning/pricing, ongoing trends, promotional campaigns, sales support and tools, market opportunities, and business case/planning are managed, reported, and continuously improving by the marketing management team  
  • Oversee the marketing communication plans and goals for the franchise in the North American markets
  • Oversee Ambu’s brand and ensure Ambu brand consistency in programs and Marketing communications, including trade shows and digital
  • Ensure highly collaborative KOL/consultant relationships and downstream advisory boards are optimized, utilized productively, and supportive of growth in the franchise product lines
  • Provide leadership/communication on business line, product performance, market and customer inputs to Global Teams on North American market needs, requirements, and long term planning aspects
  • Lead team in sales support tools targeting all key stakeholders for the product area
  • Collaborate with sales management and other department management to ensure Marketing strategies and programs are effective and are communicated as needed
  • Oversee collaboration across geographies and cross-functional teams to build internal support, report on business progress, and accomplish business goals and objectives
  • Up to 40% travel related to customer fieldwork, tradeshows/courses, corporate accounts meetings, and sales/marketing events
  • Conduct business and maintain relationships according to Ambu’s standards and values
  • Additional ad hoc duties, as needed

 Qualifications /Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field, MBA a plus
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Healthcare Marketing, preferably in Medical Devices
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, team management and development and organizational communication
  • Displays initiative while driving commercial results and impacting business outcomes
  • Strong project and program management skills, demonstrating a strong drive for results
  • Strong storytelling skills, ability to craft narratives and presentations that engage audiences
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and partners at levels of the organization.
  • Effectively build and maintain relationships with peers and colleagues across organizational levels and with the executive team – essential to this cross-functional heavy role
  • Experience with design, evaluation, validation of marketing strategies and programs
  • Consistently and effectively brings ideas, proposals and business cases forward for consideration
  • Experience in Anesthesia, Patient Monitoring and/or Emergency Management Services (EMS), strongly preferred
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with new product development and launches
  • Analytical and budgetary experience
  • Strong ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems for business strategy
  • Experience supporting a direct, commercially-centric sales force
