Employment Type:  Full-time
Req ID:  9886

Ambu A/S is currently looking for a Director, Compensation & Benefits, to be based out of our North American HQ in Columbia, MD (hybrid).

In partnership with our global Centre of Excellence (COE), you will design and implement a core compensation and benefits infrastructure that will support Ambu’s next phase of growth in the U.S. This is a rare opportunity to put the right frameworks, governance, and discipline in place—from implementing our global job architecture to incentives to benefits strategy— creating practices, policies and procedures that will scale with our growing business.

You will bring data, insight, and clear recommendations to leaders—and occasionally the Board—to support smart decision-making. This role is a unique opportunity to create the compensation and benefits foundation for Ambu’s future in the U.S. With significant visibility, autonomy, and partnership across the business.  This role will have a significant impact on how Ambu attracts, rewards, and retains talent—today and as we scale. If you are passionate about making a difference in the compensation and benefits offerings for employees, while having fun in a growth business and providing an exceptional experience for managers and employees, this may be the role for you!

Key responsibilities

You will help shape how we pay, reward and  motivate talent by leading U.S. compensation including:

  • Implementing a new compensation framework aligned with global standards
  • Establishing job architecture and role grading for the U.S.
  • Driving market benchmarking, pay equity analysis, and pay transparency compliance
  • Designing merit, incentive, and long-term incentive approaches

Further, you will rethink the U.S. benefits offering with a fresh lens—balancing cost, competitiveness, and employee experience. You will be the go-to expert and advocate for employees when it comes to benefits. This can include:

  • Evaluating health plan strategy
  • Redesigning open enrollment and benefits education
  • Establishing a wellness program
  • Simplifying how benefits are communicated and understood
  • You will design Ambu’s U.S. global mobility and relocation program ensuring a positive experience

Operating as a senior individual contributor with global influence, it is imperative that you collaborate with:

  • Global Total Rewards COE
  • Finance, Sales, Legal, and HR Business Partners
  • Business leaders

Suggested candidate profile

Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you:

  • Extensive experience from a Compensation & Benefits or Total Rewards function
  • Have prior experience leading the functional area, and understand how C&B can be used as a strategic lever for organisational growth
  • Experience working in a global context could be beneficial, but not essential
  • Experience from regulated industries in a private company preferred
  • A proactive, can-do attitude, where you see opportunities rather than limitations
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and strong ownership of your area of responsibility
  • You strongly resonate with our values: Take Charge, Team Up & Be True
