Join our Sustainability team in Ambu’s global R&D department
At our headquarters in Ballerup, you will become part of our sustainability and biosafety function that is anchored in R&D. Our sustainability team have six years of track record to mature sustainability in the R&D organisation and have good results and structures in place for working with sustainability in our new product development. All the way from design strategy to changing things in production – latest when we were the first company in the world to introduce bioplastics in an endoscope.
The sustainability team sets the bar high and has the responsibility to drive actions to reduce environmental impact and increase circularity of our new product and packaging innovations. We are working across our different business areas and together with our innovation teams we actively seek out new technical opportunities to improve our solutions through tech tracks and new product development.
The recent years we have for instance worked with circular sourcing of bioplastics, improving product and packaging for a more recyclable design, supported and setting up take-back and recycling programs for medical devices.
We are a team that has a data-driven approach to making sustainability related design decisions and to address our biggest challenges head on and with this position we seek to build out our capabilities to use data to also document the benefits of the new solutions we are bringing to the market.
To be successful in our efforts, we are working closely with good colleagues from R&D, Corp ESG, Marketing and operations.
Build environmental evidence - and develop new sustainable products
In this role, you will mainly support Ambu's sustainability evidence agenda by completing lifecycle assessments (LCA) on Ambu’s new and existing products. You will also support Ambu’s new innovation projects with your sustainability expertise to ensure that sustainability is considered in product development from idea to patient.
Your main responsibilities will include:

Driving LCA and circularity-related documentation in enabling be transparent in reporting on sustainability and monitoring performance

Creating impactful and trustworthy environmental communication in collaboration with marketing

Supporting our innovation projects with sustainability-related activities and deliverables
-
Implementing sustainability activities in new product development projects e.g. setting sustainability ambitions, support circular design, review products sustainability performance and create documentation for green claims

Taking a data-driven approach to driving sustainability for design projects

Support tech-tracks tasks within sustainability topics such as design for circularity and circular sourcing of e.g. bioplastics
Purpose-driven and analytical
Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you:
- You have knowledge of environmental impacts and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and you have interest in developing your related technical skills.
- You have an engineering background e.g. B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Design and innovation Engineering, Sustainability Engineering or related discipline.
- You have affinity for performing technical analysis including modelling and data management.
- You can collect, process, manage and interpret data in a form that is understandable to audiences with varying levels of knowledge on sustainability.
- You're able to generate valuable insights from analysis, and the preparation of clear and compelling LCA reports and presentations of results.
- You have experience with one of the LCA software tools, e.g. SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, etc.
- You are familiar with ISO 14040; ISO 14044; ISO 14067; ISO 14064 and GHG protocol for products and organizations.
- You preferably have 2-4 years of experience from sustainability consulting or being an environmental professional in a large corporate company.
- You have knowledge about materials, especially plastics, metals and electronics as well as general knowledge of production methods.
