Working Student R&D

Are you an engineering student who enjoys building things, experimenting, and finding creative solutions to problems that don't yet have an obvious answer?

Join our engineering team and help us explore new ways of designing and testing the next generation of endoscope technology. You'll have the opportunity to take ideas from a first sketch to a working physical prototype, combining mechanical design, electronics, sensors, and rapid prototyping.

We are looking for someone who is curious, hands-on, and not afraid to try something, test it, learn from it, and try again.

What You’ll Work On

  • Invent new ways to test: Develop experimental test setups that help us better understand how endoscope components behave. Turn ideas into working prototypes using Arduino, sensors, motors, electronics, and electromechanical components.

  • Rethink how things are designed: Explore new concepts for important endoscope components and develop your own ideas from sketch to prototype.

  • Build things for real: Design and manufacture custom parts using CAD, 3D printing, plastics, metals, and other rapid-prototyping techniques.

  • Experiment and iterate: Build, test, troubleshoot, break things, learn, and improve your designs until they work.

  • Make your work reusable: Document your solutions so other engineers can understand, reproduce, and build on them.

  • Work across disciplines: Collaborate directly with engineers and researchers from different backgrounds at our Augsburg Innovation Site.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in engineering, mechatronics, robotics, natural sciences, or a related technical field.

  • You enjoy building and experimenting, not just working on concepts.

  • Some experience with Arduino or similar microcontrollers, or a strong motivation to learn.

  • Familiarity with CAD, 3D printing, electronics, or mechanical prototyping. You don't need to be an expert in all of them.

  • Curious and self-driven, with the confidence to bring your own ideas to the table.

  • Comfortable solving open-ended technical problems independently while knowing when to ask for help.

What We Offer

  • Real ownership: Take your ideas from concept to working prototype.

  • Room to experiment: Explore different approaches, test unconventional ideas, and learn through iteration.

  • Hands-on engineering: Work directly with prototypes rather than only simulations and presentations.

  • Mentorship: Learn from experienced engineers and researchers while contributing your own perspective.

  • Real-world impact: Work on technologies and experiments that contribute to the development of future endoscope solutions.

  • A flexible 20-hour/week position designed to fit alongside your studies.

  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary working environment at our Augsburg Innovation Site.
