R&D Engineer – Extrusion

Ambu Innovation is currently looking for an Extrusion Engineer to join our Industrialization Department in Augsburg.
In our team we are a small group of experienced R&D Engineers with the common goal of developing medical products.
As an Extrusion Engineer, you'll bring your expertise to strengthen our project teams and play an active role in design for manufacturing of our advanced tubes.
Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Acting as an individual contributor related to tubing design, leading the implementation and documentation of new extrusion processes from 3D-model to final component
- Ensuring design for design for manufacturing (DFM) of advanced tubes, including supplier management, material selection and ensuring quality aspects like robustness, cost-effectiveness, sustainability and medical safety.
- Participate in all phases of the innovation process—from conceptual design to product validation.
- Manage subcontractors and external partners involved in extrusion process development.
- Collaborating with suppliers to ensure component quality and defining our product specifications
- Working in an international setting, collaborating with development teams from Germany, Denmark, and Malaysia, as well as external partners, users, physicians, and knowledge centers
Suggested candidate profile
Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you:
- Having over 3 years of experience as an R&D Engineer in extrusion process development
- It's vital that you have practical experience in design for manufacturing of tubing and demonstrating a good understanding of supplier management.
- Strong understanding of DfM/DfA.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing external suppliers.
It would be advantageous if you can also bring:
- Demonstrate structured way of working complemented by innovative thinking
- Previous experience in a project driven and international environment within a medical company
